Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law –Proverbs 29:18
I do a lot of reading, usually 6 or 7 books a month. Some are novels that include a Christian bent. Many of my books are academic in theology, leadership, and Christian education. I love to read devotionals. I love how reading challenges my mind.
Did you know that when you open a book, you must decide on where you are going in the book? So, when we open a book, we are engaging a springboard to our future days. God has placed within each of us the potential and opportunity for following after Him. I have several books—over 1500 books in my home library and almost 4000 in my Logos online library. I also have a number of books on my Kindle. Then there are two church libraries available.
I have found that it takes effort to waste your life and it takes effort to do what grows you under God. I like the second option much better than the first. Still, the fact is, that millions upon millions of folks on this earth live captivated by lives surrendered to this world system. They really have not chosen what to do with their lives. Another fact: it always costs more not to do God’s will than to do His will. A final observation: We do not live in a world of fate; we choose what to do from our springboards.
Did you read the passage, Proverbs 29:18? Clearly it speaks to what is not God’s plan for any of us. Dissatisfaction, discouragement, and fear/anxiety is included in absence of vision.
In our uniqueness, we need to live out our lives in God’s plan. The Bible says we are to be a light to the world. If we just attempt to live lives that imitate others, we drift to live our lives in the darkness that encompasses the world. That is not what God has planned for us.
Life Application
Life’s greatest burden is to go through life with nothing to carry. It becomes a heavy life. The great plan of our great God is to give each of us a valuable gift to carry and disperse among the needy—for food, clothing, and shelter; but most of all for giving out the truth of the Gospel.
What we set our heart and soul upon determines how we live our lives.
Never take lightly the dreams and hopes that God has given you. Hold them dear and release them to glorify God.
You can go anywhere with God in His plan for you. First you need to open His page—the Bible is a springboard for your life.
It takes principle to draw interest. What is your principle, and where is it applied?
