Song of Moses and Song of the Lamb

Vol.4, No.48 – December 1, 2019, Countdown to the end – 35

They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and amazing are Your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed” –Revelation 15:3-4

I have had the privilege of performing in and attending some great concerts over my lifespan of a great number of years. However, to be in Heaven to listen and participate in a great concert will be awesome! John is invited to listen to a great concert; a great song-fest as never heard by any earth-bound human.

The Song of Moses that appears in Revelation 15 is recorded in Exodus 15; the song of the Lamb is recorded in Revelation 15.

The site of Moses’ song is at the Red Sea; the song of the Lamb is sung at the Crystal Sea (not the Crystal Cathedral or any other crystal place). Both songs are songs of triumph and victory. Wonder why churches do not focus their worship with great songs of praise direct from the Scriptures, instead of entertaining themselves with songs that cannot even be heard because of the loudness of the music and beats of the drums. Even many invitation songs are more effective in driving people away, rather than drawing people to the Savior. Just sayin’

The song of Moses tells how God brings His people out; the song of the Lamb tells how God brings His people in. The song of Moses commemorates the execution of the enemy, the expectation of the believers, and the exaltation of the Lord. Interesting, the song of the Lamb focuses on the same threefold theme.

Who sings Moses’ song the first time? The children of Israel.

Who will sing Moses’ song and the song of the Lamb? God’s tribulation believers.

Most reading this blog have participated in sing the Hallelujah Chorus. John Phillips organizes verses three and four in this manner:

They will sing: How Great Thou Art!

Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty

They will sing: How Good Thou Art!

Just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints

They will sing: How Glorious Thou Art!

Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy Name

Worthy are you, our Lord and God! Revelation 4:11

He, who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches! Revelation 2:7

Behold, Jesus is coming soon Revelation 22:6

Life Application

A glorious choral concert! Only redeemed people have the privilege of being a godly singing people. The songs of redemption that redeemed people have the privilege of singing should always glorify Christ. It is not about us; it is about Him!

Thought for the Season

The angels sang because the everlasting Father had come to extend arms of redeeming grace to all who would give their hearts to Him. It is a wonderful, mysterious, hard-to-grasp, and beyond-the-scope-of-our normal-reasoning story. But when you get it, when you come to fully understand the purpose and implications of this story, you will sing too –Paul Tripp, in Come Let us Adore Him

Another Number — 144,000

Vol.4, No.47 – November 24, 2019, Countdown to the end – 34

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with Him, 144,000, who had His name and His Father’s name on their foreheads –Revelation 14:1

Some things are subtle undercurrents in the book of Revelation. These things intensify in the prophecy that gathers—in each unfolding. With each additional stem into the Great Tribulation (seven years), clarity unfolds; issues of life become very black and white.

  • There is right and wrong
  • There is Heaven and Hell
  • There are rewards and punishment
  • There are saints and sinners
  • There is a satanic counterfeit kingdom and the Kingdom of God

Each is mutually exclusive to the other.

Common practice in the current world is to sit on the fence. In the Great Tribulation, sitting on the fence becomes outlawed. Humanity must choose sides. Humanity cannot continue to live with a foot in both camps. The final choice must be made, and it will be confirmed by a mark (tattoo or some such sign). That mark is placed on the right hand or on the forehead. That mark is a sign, a pledge, of a person’s allegiance.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer –Henry David Thoreau

144,000 are out of step with the rest of the world. They are committed; they hear the beat of a different drummer; they hear the melody of a different Kingdom—the music of Heaven itself.

These 144,000 will shake the world to the core! They will turn the world upside down in the closing days of time. These are soldiers of Christ. These have clarity, courage, and unwavering allegiance. These are unequivocal. These are God-people.

Biblical scholars argue and question whether believers can expect to go through the Great Tribulation. However, the real challenge is since you will not be in the Great Tribulation, what manner of Christian ought you be?

What is your current mark that you wear? To whom is your allegiance? The issue is not so forceful quite yet. It ought to be. It is forceful in the future.

Believing is a spectator sport. Following is what makes you a player –Jan Hettinga.

Is it not time for each of us to jump into the fray? With both feet . . . to decisively choose what marks our life; the sign of identity; Christ as our One who came, lived, died, resurrected, and is the soon coming King of kings.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God! Revelation 4:11

He, who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches! Revelation 2:7

Behold, Jesus is coming soon Revelation 22:6

Life Application

So, what mark do you wear? Are you wearing the mark while sitting on the top rail of the fence? A choice must be made; it cannot be avoided. It is time to decisively choose what will mark you!

Vol.4, No.46 – November 17, 2019, Countdown to the end – 33

This calls for wisdom; let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666 –Revelation 13:18

The world has seen dictators; there is more to come. However, there is a last dictator coming. Supervillain at his worst. This is Satan’s regent prince, the Beast, the man of sin. 666. Revelation 13 is a chapter describing the two striking rebels in all history. They cannot be described as the greatest rebels, because there is nothing great about being rebellious.

The wild Beast comes out of the sea, and a wild false prophet comes out of the land. They represent two movements; they will seek to set up a world-federation of nations for political reasons. They include a world-federation of churches for “religious” reasons. They will do this in the Great Tribulation period—Christ’s Church is no longer present; Christ has raptured them. Caught away to be forever with the Lord.

John Phillips describes these two with his words, “in the Satanic trinity now formed, the Beast is the anti-God (13:6); the false prophet is the anti-Christ (13:11-16). Satan is the anti-Spirit, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.” (Ephesians 2:2)

This is Satan’s imitation of the Divine Trinity, a deception.

All three are anti (especially anti-Christ). The second wild thing is actually a beast as well—the false prophet. He works collaboratively with the first Beast. He is an administrator of sorts, for the affairs of Satan. He looks and acts like a lamb, but speaks like a Dragon. Together, the Beasts are blood brothers, abetting one another, as the entire world moves toward one vast political/religious unit.

Do you want to know who the Anti-Christ is? I think we are approaching the thousands in guesswork. Some use the term to describe movements (such as the “organized” church). Is it a person we have already experienced? (Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Obama, Kissinger—they get votes of academics and preachers with an agenda.) The identity of the Anti-Christ will not be known until the Church is gone—raptured (2 Thessalonians 2:3-5).

Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead (13:16).

A simple little mark, as a token of allegiance.

Every human being required to display the “passport” of Satan’s brand; without such, no transaction great or small can be made. No billion-dollar deal can substitute for the brand; no little boy or girl can buy an ice-cream cone at the corner store. No seal, no sale! No brand, no dollars! No tattoo, no acceptance! All without the mark, the brand, the tattoo (Printer’s Ink) get rejected by the Federated government/church.

The number 666, what is that? Is it the tax system run amuck? Is it the voter registration number of the future? No one knows for sure. 666 is mystic and mysterious; it taxes the ingenuity of Bible scholars, professors, preachers, and teachers worldwide. Six is the number of man. Six is short of seven (perfect; reflecting God). If you keep adding sixes to man’s identity, you still come up with less than perfect.

If I had started a printer-ink business at age 18, to sell ink to all the folks interpreting the meaning of 666, the thousands of gallons of black ink sold would have produced enough income for me to retire at 29. Just think of the fishing time I would have had.

Printer’s Ink. What would you do with the income you could get from selling printer’s ink? I thought about spending time fishing. I think it is still a good plan. Fishing. Perhaps if I would take the time that contemplating 666 and its person, and invest it in fishing for the lost, I could get some great nibbles on the heart strings of those needing to hear of the Lord Jesus Christ, and His great offer of salvation. Unbelievers, like dead fish are just going with the flow. Printer’s Ink. Ha!
