Do not Build a Case Against Yourself
1 John 4:4
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. –1 John 4:4
Has God considered your future? An example is found in Jeremiah 29:11-12. I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
All of what we are, good and bad, is what we thought about, and believed. As a believer, what you have become is due to the price paid to redeem you. All our battles we face wage within us. Nothing great is ever achieved unless we dare believe that God is superior to any circumstance of our lives.
There is a saying: Do not put water in your own boat; the storm will put enough in on its own. Do not dream up thousands of reasons why you cannot do what you want to; find one reason why you can. It is easier to do all the things you should do than spend the rest of your life wishing you had. The first key victory you must win is over yourself. You cannot consistently perform in a manner that is inconsistent with the way God intended your life.
Building a case against yourself is like a microscope—it magnifies trifling things, but cannot receive the great plans God has for you. In order to keep from building a case against yourself one needs to build their prayer life, divide truth from false claims, subtract the negative influences, and add God’s Word.
Life Application
God’s math is dependable. The principles of math do not give flexibility to the outcome of the exercises. How many have discovered in math classes that they cannot crib or lie to themselves and come up with right answers.
God has already spoke the answers we need in life. The Bible is His unique book. There is no other book anywhere like it. When we read common books, authors write to entertain us. When we read academic books, most of those are philosophical approaches to a discipline. It is not unusual for a future author to find misstatements and false applications.
However, God’s Word is absolutely dependable. When read, it is the voice of God speaking to us. When one takes in God’s Word it is life changing. When we hide the Word in our heart, our heart has a filter to sort out our thinking, speaking, and actions of life.
How much are you depending on our great God to face life? How often have you found a description of yourself in the Word of God? How much of a difference is God making in your life? It is reasonable to have the Creator God, who has uniquely made you, hold you in great worth. God’s value of you is seen in the great worth He holds over you as He sends His Son to redeem you. What an encouraging truth.
