More Mighty than a Grin!
Romans 8:28; Psalm 144:15
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. –Romans 8:28
It is said that the most bankrupt person in the world is the one who has lost their joy. The point of that is that we ought to be a people who are enthusiastic and positive—not murmurers and whiners.
A number of years ago a question circulated among national leasers regarding what makes a person successful. The bulk of the respondents indicated that enthusiasm was key to success. A person who is enthusiastic builds an enthusiastic. It is not unlike leaders developing following leaders.
Do you know anyone who is successful doing the work they hate? Find something you love to do, and you will never have to “work” another day in your life –Harvey Mackay. Give me a man who sings at his work. That is the kind of person I want to hire –Thomas Carlisle.
It takes more than a grin to reflect joy—it takes a smile. Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow –Helen Keller. What a strange response from a blind woman! An unwise person seeks happiness sometime in the future; a wise person grows in their joy today. Have you ever met a “Christian” pessimist?
How does your present and future look behind your smile? And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. –Romans 8:28. Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord! –Psalm 144:15
Joy is a part of God’s character. God’s joy is contagious.
Life Application
Do you greet the unseen with joy or fear? Laughter is a form of internal jogging. It moves your internal organs around. It enhances respiration. It is an igniter of great expectations. –Norman Cousins.
All God’s creation is a praise to Him. the Scriptures say that should man not praise Him, even the rocks will cry out their praise to Him. Certainly, if the rocks can praise, we should be able to smile our praise to Almighty God.
Would it not be sad to be replaced by a bunch of rocks, should we not praise God?
For every minute we are angry we lose 60 seconds of opportunity for our smiles under God, and we lose the witness of our joy to the unsaved.
Contributions to our joy include handling what we can do without, and, secondly, getting us to think toward what we can do with what we have. Unhappiness and joylessness are a choice.
Let’s be like a tea kettle—when we are up to our neck in hot water, continue to sing!
